Have you looked at your child's Web site? These students are doing AMAZING research! Please take a moment to check them out!
I created the schedule with the purpose of having all of our projects ready for Career Day. In the weeks since I posted the deadlines for each step, however, I have watched students fall behind schedule--not one student or a few but almost every single one.
That said, we really need to work hard in the coming weeks in order to be prepared for Career Day. All students should work to complete Steps 1-3 before Spring Break. I will cover Step 3 in class next week with anyone who has not already met with me about it.
Here are directions for any student who has questions about completing Step 2:
1) Learn what degree(s) a career requires by looking at Science Buddies. Relevant information can be found on the "Key Facts & Information" and "Education" tabs.
2) Google place, degree, career. (For example, Google Arkansas, masters degree, physical therapy.)
3) Look for sites ending with .edu to find real schools (for example, www.ualr.edu).
4) Search the site for the page with an extension for your specific program on the school's web site (for example, www.uca.edu/pt).
5) Repeat for various locations (Arkansas, neighboring state, and faraway place). Also, repeat as necessary for various degrees. (e.g. If a career requires a doctoral degree, what masters degree is necessary? If a degree requires a masters degree, which bachelors degree is necessary?)
As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
